Santander IE Best Practices in Digital Education for Teachers

Banco Santander and the IE Foundation offer 5,000 scholarships for educators to take a high quality course developed by teachers from IE University to train them to tackle the transition to a digital educational environment.

General Information

This scholarship program offers 5,000 scholarships to teachers to take the Online Learning Journey “The New Role of the Educator: Best practices in Online Education”, an online course that will become a basic and fundamental guide for any university educator that is willing to offer their classes in a digital environment.

In order to achieve these objectives, the course presents flexible training online that enables participants to study at their own pace, and requires about 6 hours of commitment. This course can be taken in Spanish (start date: May 4th), English (start date: May 4th) or Porguese (start date: May 18th).

The main topics included will be:

  • 1. Introduction to online training.
  • 2. Creation or adaptation of my course to an attractive online format.
  • 3. Videoconference and discussion forums.
  • 4. Exercises, exams and feedback,
  • 5. Sharing best practices.
  • 6. Trends, future and other advanced tools. }

The selection process will only consist of one phase and the selection criteria for assigning places are:

  • ► Applicants may come from all over the world, but it will be taken into account positively those who are nationals or reside in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Germany, Mexico, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Spain, United Kingdom, Uruguay, and USA.
  • ► Level of English or Spanish (depending on the language the applicant chooses to take the course in).
  • ► Assessment of the answers provided by the candidate in the application form.
  • ► Motivation letter (maximum 280 characters).

General Terms and Conditions for the Santander IE Online Best Practices in Digital Education for Teachers

Objectives of the Program: Offer 5,000 scholarships to educators the possibility to acquire a set of skills and tools to understand, adapt to, and implement digital teaching methods, as well as to help them improve the quality of their online classes. The course will be offered in Spanish, English and Portuguese.

Target: Teachers from all over the world, with preference towards those nationals or residents in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Germany, Mexico, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Spain, United Kingdom, Uruguay, and USA.

Admissions criteria: English level, analysis of the application form, motivation letter (max. 280 characters)

Selection Process/Agents: The Selection Committee –formed by 1 agent from IE Foundation, 1 agent from Banco Santander S.A., and 1 agent from the Social Impact Area of Santander Universidades from Banco Santander S.A.- will be responsible for the monitoring of the compliance of the previously indicated criteria based upon the personal data of the applicants filled in the application form.

Characteristics of the program: The scholarships include the tuition and certificate of one OLJ. Once the program has been completed, after a maximum of 6 weeks since the beginning of the course, students will receive a final certificate form the course.

Scholarships allocation: The Selection Committee –formed by 1 agent from IE Foundation, 1 agent from Banco Santander S.A., and 1 agent from the Social Impact Area of Santander Universidades from Banco Santander S.A.- will allocate the available scholarships to the candidates. Additionally, it may estimate other selection criteria deemed as convenient in case the number of applications is higher than the number of scholarships available. The application process will finish by Tuesday April 28th 11:59 pm GMT+2 (Madrid time zone).

Follow up: Once “The New Role of the Educator: Best practices in Online Education” Santander IE Scholarships Program” and its corresponding scholarships has been allocated by IE Foundation, this institution will provide Santander through the Becas Santander platform or any other channels detailed information regarding said scholarships, as well as any other information related to the Program and its implementation required for a proper follow up.
